Emergency PPKM Field: Bobby Nasution Will Distribute Social Assistance To Residents

JAKARTA - Emergency PPKM will be implemented starting today in Medan City, North Sumatra. Medan Mayor Bobby Nasution will provide social assistance for residents during an emergency PPKM.

According to Bobby Nasution, many residents were economically affected by the emergency PPKM. Therefore, the Medan City Government has prepared social assistance for its citizens.

"We from the Medan City Government agreed yesterday at a meeting attended by the chairman of the DPRD for affected communities, employees, that we will provide social assistance," said Bobby Nasution, Monday, July 12.

Bobby Nasution explained, there were 10 million PKH and BLT recipients from districts/cities where the emergency PPKM applied would receive 10 kg of rice assistance from the APBN in stages.

"From the APBD, we agreed yesterday that we will issue assistance, this is still the data collection period. We have asked for data on the affected communities, especially employees, which we closed 100 percent today," explained Bobby Nasution

But Bobby Nasution has not been able to confirm the form of social assistance from the Medan City Government. Under review for cash or in-kind assistance.

"We are still reviewing this, we are still in the process of collecting data for 2 days. Yesterday, we were instructed from the service that we asked for 2 days. We can see how many people are affected," said Bobby Nasution.

In addition, Bobby Nasution mentioned the increase in COVID-19 cases in Medan City over the last 4 days. Therefore, emergency PPKM must be able to suppress the spread of COVID-19.

"Our target is that BOR must go down, testing must increase, our tracing must be able to have more than 15 close contacts," said Bobby.

Bobby Nasution hopes that the community will really comply with the health protocols during this emergency PPKM period. For him, the implementation of the emergency PPKM until July 20 is the time for the community to ensure that the spread of COVID-19 does not spread.

"The most important thing is that people really follow the prokes, there are no more people going out without masks, no more crowding. This is the main target until July 20, when we invite people. The actual implementation after July 20 is people really take part no," said Bobby Nasution.
