JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the pre-crisis period of COVID-19 in Indonesia is not certain to be over in the near future. In fact, it is predicted that conditions like this can last until 2021.

Jokowi made this statement when giving a mandate to all state officials to commemorate Pancasila Day, Monday, June 1.

"The challenges we face are not easy, this year or even next year, we will still face a difficult situation (in the aftermath of COVID-19)," said Jokowi.

For this reason, said Jokowi, as a large nation, Indonesia must fight to get out of difficult times and rearrange all sectors that have declined due to the impact of COVID-19.

In fact, it seems that the affected countries in all parts of the world are competing in various ways to end the COVID-19 period. Then, improve all sectors, especially the economy that has fallen sharply.

"We are not alone, 215 countries in the world are in a condition like all of us are in trouble (during the early stages) but we must also realize that all countries are competing to be winners, to be winners in virus control and to be winners in their economic recovery," he explained Jokowi.

However, said Jokowi, getting out of the difficult times due to COVID-19 is not an easy matter. Creation, innovation and exploitation of opportunities is one way that must be continued.

So, he continued, Indonesia could become a winner in competitions between all countries in the world. "We must not stop being creative, innovating and achieving in the midst of this COVID-19," said Jokowi.

The spread of COVID-19 in Indonesia

Then, the number of patients who died reached 1,613 patients. Meanwhile, 7,308 patients have recovered.

With this number, Indonesia ranks 31st in the addition of positive cases worldwide. Meanwhile, the United States, Brazil and Russia occupy the top ranks.
