SOLO - A number of market traders' associations in Solo City, Central Java, hope for an economic stimulus from the government during the implementation of the emergency PPKM.

"We, among others, from Papatsuta (Pasamuan Traditional Market) and Bolo Pasar Solo, expressed our objections to Mas Gibran. We convey the aspirations of our friends, as representatives of markets such as Klewer and Depok," said Secretary General Papatsuta Wiharto in Solo, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 8th.

Wiharto said the closure of businesses operating in the non-essential sector during the emergency PPKM was quite burdensome for traders. Therefore, it hopes that there will be further evaluations.

One thing that traders hope is that the closing time for non-essential sectors in this emergency PPKM is shortened.

"I don't know what the way is, the hope is like that. If it can't be done, there should be a stimulus that is to ease the burden on traders," he said.

Wiharto said the relief that could be done was in terms of retribution or in the form of direct cash assistance (BLT).

"Moreover, so far there has been no sectoral assistance for market traders. I don't know exactly what the structure is, but I hope there will be relief," he continued.

In addition to having no income because they are not allowed to open a shop, he said, the traders also experienced significant losses because the stored goods had the potential to be damaged.

"Including those selling birds and fish, such as those in Depok Market, if they are not treated, they can get sick and even die," said Wiharto.

Meanwhile, he also hopes that there will be strict supervision of unscrupulous traders who are still messing around with officers.

"So far there are traders who sell cat and mouse. They (officers) promise to tighten supervision so as not to cause jealousy for other traders who have tried to be disciplined," said Wiharto.
