YOGYAKARTA - The Transportation Service (Dishub) of Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region together with the local police has closed the intersection of Jalan Parangtritis and Jalan Imogiri Barat for 24 hours. This closure is to reduce the mobility of currents to and from the area.
Head of the Bantul Transportation Agency, Aris Suharyanta, said that the road closure measures at two intersections in Bantul, which borders the city of Yogyakarta, were taken based on the results of an inter-district coordination meeting with the DIY Transportation Agency.
"In the coordination meeting, among others, it was decided to close the flow from Bantul at the Druwo intersection (Jalan Parangtritis). We will close those that enter the city, then we will close the intersection at Wojo (West Imogiri Road) which enters the city, while those that go out we open ," he said when confirmed in Bantul, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, July 7.
With the road closure, vehicles from Bantul cannot exit through the Druwo intersection.
On the other hand, from the outside or the South Ring Road, you cannot enter through Druwo, then at the intersection of Jalan Imogiri Barat, the current from Bantul and the ring road cannot go north.
"At the discretion and consideration of the Head of Polres, the Druwo intersection to the south, we will completely close it, however, for the closure at the Druwo intersection to the south which goes to Bantul, we will see one or two days, we will re-evaluate," he said.
Aris said that although it was completely closed for 24 hours for the next few days entering Bantul, there was no 24-hour guarding of personnel officers, only at certain hours so that road users were asked to understand this effort to reduce community mobility.
"If there is no traffic congestion, but 'rat' roads, alternative roads tend to be more crowded, but our intention is to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and the mobility of residents," he said.
Moreover, he said, currently Bantul Regency is implementing Regent's Instruction Number 17 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Emergency Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak which is increasingly widespread.
"So we all socialize to the community so they don't leave their homes during this emergency PPKM period," he said.
