There Are Solo Residents Who Are Positive For COVID-19 Walking Around, They Are Now Being Picked Up For Central Isolation

SOLO - The Surakarta City Government, Central Java has started to pick up COVID-19 patients who are still undergoing independent isolation at their respective homes to be delivered to a centralized location. This was done following the fact that there were still many people wandering around even though their status was positive for COVID-19.

"The point is that we are taking self-isolation at home, as of yesterday. If it is difficult, let the Chief of Police (police officer) take it," said Head of the Surakarta City Health Service (DKK) Siti Wahyuningsih, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, July 7.

Siti said eight centralized isolation locations were provided by the Surakarta City Government, namely Solo Technopark (STP), Graha Wisata, SDN Cemara 02, SDN Cengklik, SMPN 11, SMPN 9, SMPN 25, and SMPN 8 Surakarta. Of all these locations, the one that has been fully occupied is STP.

"SDN Cemara 02 has also started to fill. Today I have coordinated with Bu Camat (Camat Laweyan, ed.) regarding SMPN 25 we have started filling it out," he said.

However, not all self-isolated patients are invited to undergo centralized isolation.

Siti said residents who had just been picked up by isolation or less than five days, while residents who had undergone isolation for more than five days were allowed to complete self-isolation at their respective homes.

Regarding the readiness of a number of centralized isolation locations, he said, due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. In fact, in the last five days there have been an addition of about 2,000 new cases in the city of Solo.

"They are mostly OTG (Asymptomatic People), there are still many who have not disciplined health protocols," he said.

He said residents who could afford it could undergo self-isolation at the Ibis Style Hotel Solo. The hotel provides self-isolation packages under the supervision of the Surakarta DKK.

"There are around 140 beds, people who can afford it are welcome. Regarding other hotels if you want (to become self-isolation locations, ed.) later we will 'assess'. If this Ibis has been trained how to handle positive patients, they have mastered the flow, " said Siti.

Regarding the provision of such a centralized isolation location, the Mayor of Surakarta, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, said that currently the most urgent thing is to immediately separate the sick from the healthy.

"That's why we added eight places, previously there were those that were accommodated in hospitals, in Donohudan (Donohudan Hajj Dormitory, ed.). If these schools are all new buildings, the independent rooms are also good. The important thing is that the residents are comfortable there In addition, we are also preparing a centralized isolation location for pregnant women, the elderly, and children," he said.

Gibran said centralized isolation was important because there were still many residents with a positive COVID-19 status who were not disciplined to self-isolate.

"He feels that he is healthy and keeps going around, even though he is still sick and has the potential to be contagious," he said.
