Delta Variant Detected In Bogor, Mayor Bima Arya Reminds Residents To Be Careful

BOGOR - The Mayor who is also the Head of the Bogor City COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Bima Arya, said the Delta variant had been detected in his area. The public must be more careful and ensure health protocols.

"It has been confirmed that a new variant of the corona virus, namely the Delta variant, already exists in Bogor City. We remind the public to reduce mobility and be more careful," said Mayor Bima Arya in Bogor City, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, July 6.

He said positive cases of COVID-19 in Bogor City also jumped sharply. In just one day on Monday (5/7), there was a surge in positive cases of 562 cases so that active COVID-19 cases increased to 5,378 cases.

"The death toll on Monday (5/7) yesterday added two cases to 291 cases," he said.

To anticipate the sharp increase in positive cases of COVID-19, the COVID-19 Task Force continues to make maximum efforts to add all facilities, both beds for COVID-19 positive patients in hospitals and isolation centers.

The Hospital Expansion Hospital, previously known as the Field Hospital and A5 Dormitory on the Dramaga Bogor Campus, which functions as a COVID-19 Isolation Center has also been active since Monday, July 5.

The Bogor City Government also continues to recruit health workers to treat COVID-19 patients at hospitals and the COVID-19 Isolation Center.

According to data from the Health Research and Development Agency (Balitbangkes) of the Ministry of Health, as of Tuesday, 436 positive cases of the new variant of COVID-19, namely the Delta variant, have been confirmed in nine provinces.

Data from the Ministry of Health's Balitbangkes recorded that out of 436 positive cases, in West Java there were 134 positive cases.
