In Order Not To Be Deterred From Underestimating COVID-19, Prokes Violators In Surabaya Will Be Brought To The Corona Cemetery

SURABAYA - Violators of the health protocol (prokes) in the city of Surabaya, East Java, will be sanctioned by being taken to the COVID-19 cemetery at the Keputih TPU until they spend the night in the Pondok Sosial (Liponsos) environment.

"So, if later there are violations, they will be brought to the Keputih grave to see how many Surabaya people have died because of their negligence in not following the health protocols," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi, quoted by Antara, Saturday, July 3.

According to him, the Surabaya City Government and a joint team from the TNI-Polri will hold a health protocol operation (Prokes) on Saturday night.

This prokes operation is to follow up on the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs (Inmendagri) Number 15 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Emergency Corona Virus Disease 2019 Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) in the Java and Bali Regions. In addition, to follow up on the Decree of the Governor of East Java.

"So, by nature, we are following up on the Ministry of Home Affairs and the East Java Governor's Decree regarding Emergency PPKM, which was ordered by the TNI-Polri and the Regional Government to move. So, today what we are trying to do is break the chain of the spread of COVID-19," said Mayor Eri.

Eri said if until 20.00 WIB there were still people sitting or in the dining area there were still seats, the COVID-19 Task Force would be forced to take the seats, because during the Emergency PPKM and in accordance with the Ministry of Home Affairs it was not allowed.

"We want to show that this is what is happening in the city of Surabaya, so at least I want to touch the hearts of the residents, not to not take care of the health procedures, then the people they love will get hurt," he said.

After being shown the COVID-19 funeral at the Keputih TPU, he continued, the prokes violators were taken to Liponsos and only the next day a swab test would be carried out to determine whether he was exposed to the virus or not.

"So, come on, we are disciplined to maintain this process. I really trust the people of Surabaya," he said.

In addition, Eri Cahyadi also hopes that young people in Surabaya, who may have strong immunity, will continue to maintain health protocols. Because, no one knows about this virus.

"Maybe they (young people) are strong, but also no one knows that he becomes OTG (asymptomatic person), until finally he can transmit it to his loved ones, how sad it would be if it was like that," he said.

Mayor Eri Cahyadi also apologized to all residents of the City of Surabaya because at this time his activities had to be temporarily stopped. According to him, this has no other purpose, only to break the chain of spread of COVID-19 in Surabaya.

Therefore, he also invited the residents of Surabaya City to carry out this Emergency PPKM with discipline. If residents are not disciplined, then the COVID-19 case will continue to rise, so it can be extended.

"That's why I beg the residents of Surabaya, let's run this, so it can stop quickly. God willing, this can be completed within two weeks, but if this is not done with discipline, this will definitely continue," said Walkot Surabaya.

Eri Cahyadi also admitted that he did not want Surabaya's economy to stop. In fact, he also does not want the work to make a living for his wife and children to stop. Therefore, he asked that when working to earn a living and move the economy, it must be done while still adhering to strict health protocols.
