JAKARTA - Ukraine's Health Ministry is investigating the cause of death of a 47-year-old man four hours after being injected with Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine, the ministry said.
The ministry said there was likely no link between the two factors and that the other five people who received similar injections were in normal condition.
According to the Ministry of Health, according to the Ukrainian law and international standards of pharmacovigilance for side effects after immunization, any death that occurs within 30 days of post-immunization should be investigated.
Pfizer's off-hours Ukraine branch has yet to comment on the incident.
About two million people in Ukraine have received their first dose since February, with no reported deaths caused by vaccination.
Ukraine, with a population of 41 million, is one of the European countries hardest hit by the pandemic. As of July 3, there were around 2.24 million cases and 52,460 deaths of COVID-19 in the country.
