Many Health Workers Are Tired Of Handling COVID-19 Patients, The Government Needs To Recruit Health Volunteers

JAKARTA - House of Representatives Commission IX member Putih Sari highlighted the depleted workload of health workers (Nakes) amid the rapid spike in COVID-19 cases in the past two weeks.

That way, he asked the government not to neglect to pay attention to health workers and support personnel during the COVID-19 emergency, as it is now.

The reason, Putih received a report, that almost all health facilities, both hospitals and health centers, health workers and support personnel experience fatigue due to work overload.

"They are exhausted. This should be a serious concern for the government on how to manage it," said Putih Sari, Friday, July 2.

The deputy general chairman of Gerindra also mentioned the pattern of providing incentives to health workers who had problems. He hopes that the government can continue its implementation, and also expand it to support staff.

"Incentives must also be given to supporting staff such as ambulance drivers, cleaning services, and others who work in isolation health facilities and treat COVID-19 patients," he said.

In addition, Putih Sari also reminded the government regarding the nutritional and vitamin intake of health workers and support personnel to be balanced, because the workload on a daily basis is quite tiring.

According to him, this is important because in addition to the surge in positive cases, the sad news of health workers and support personnel who have died is also increasing due to fatigue and exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

"In addition to paying attention to the workload of health and support personnel, the government must also pay attention to the reduction in health and support personnel due to fatigue and exposure to the COVID-19 virus," he said.

For this reason, he proposed to the government to create a pattern of work assistance for health and support workers between regions, in order to minimize the impact of a high workload.

"The government can bring in health workers from areas that are not emergency areas and recruit health volunteers," said Putih Sari.

It is known, due to the surge in COVID-19 cases which for two weeks reached more than 20,000, President Jokowi officially decided to implement the Java-Bali Emergency Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) from July 3 to July 20, 2021.
