JAKARTA - The police stated that the fire incident at the Public Fuel Filling Station (SPBU) on Jalan Pramuka, Senen, Central Jakarta on June 6 was a criminal act. The gas station was deliberately set on fire by one of the employees.

Senen Police Chief Commissioner Ari Susanto said that the revelation of the gas station fire was a criminal act after conducting a series of investigations and investigations. Until finally, a clue appeared that pointed to one of the employees with the initials RWA (27).

"After examining the witnesses from the Resmob team, we suspect one of the female employees at the gas station. At the time of the incident she was not present," said Senen Police Chief Commissioner Ari Susanto to reporters, Thursday, July 1.

"Then about 4 days after the incident, we suspect that the perpetrators were detained at a hotel in Taman Sari. Then an investigation was carried out, the person concerned admitted that he had set the gas station office on fire," he continued.

From the examination, it was also known that the motive behind the arson was because he wanted to eliminate evidence. Because the perpetrators stole Rp. 165 million which was the income of the gas station.

The hundreds of millions of money was used by the perpetrators from May 31 to June 2, 2021. He squandered the money.

"With the intention of eliminating evidence of embezzled money in the office. Where the employee worked at the gas station," said Ari.

At first, the perpetrators only burned documents and desks. However, because the fire was too big, it spread and burned the gas station building.

"The documents were burned with matches, burned on the table and then caught fire causing other tables and chairs to catch fire," he said.

RWA is charged with Article 374 of the Criminal Code on Embezzlement and Article 187 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code on Burning with a maximum threat of 12 years in prison.
