The Taman Sari Shooting Case, Police: Our Organic Weapons

JAKARTA - The police said that the firearm (senpi) used by the suspect in the shooting at Mangga Besar, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, was an organic weapon used by members of the National Police. Thus, the origin of the weapon will be investigated.

"The SNW revolver is one of the organic weapons of our police force," said Metro Taman Sari Police Chief AKBP Iverson Manosoh to reporters, Wednesday, June 30.

It is known that the gun is an organic weapon or a manufacturer based on the serial number found. So, in order to trace the origin of the guns, serial numbers were distributed to the regional police in the ranks and outside the region for the purpose of obtaining information.

"To track down who the real gun owner is, we distribute the serial numbers of the weapons to be identified to the area. If anyone knows who has lost a weapon or there has been an incident where criminals have visited the headquarters or have been confiscated, we are looking for this," said Iver.

Moreover, regarding the origin of the weapons, the statements of the main suspect, whose initials are JD, are always changing. Previously, he had said that the gun came from Ambon, but soon it was recognized that it was obtained from someone in Jakarta.

"Initially, he said that this was from a conflict area in Ambon, he had been holding it for a long time and then taken it to Jakarta by boat. Before the press conference yesterday, his statement changed again, he said he got the weapon in Jakarta a year ago," said Iver

"We are still investigating because we can't hold the information. What is certain is that the weapon met him and he is responsible," he continued.

Previously, it was reported that the police had named four suspects in the shooting case in the Mangga Besar area, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, during the disbandment of an alcohol party by residents. Police previously arrested 10 people in this case.

The four suspects had the initials JP (46), HS (41), DT (36), FW (25). They have different roles, ranging from shooters to possession of firearms (senpi).

"The suspect, JP, was carrying a revolver. HS, DT and PW were in possession of sharp weapons," said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Ady.
