JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will not process the Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) report regarding the alleged violation of the code of ethics committed by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. He was reported for allegedly receiving gratuities in the form of helicopter rental.

"The case of Mr. FB's helicopter (Firli Bahuri) was completed and decided by the Council last year," said member of the KPK Supervisory Board Syamsuddin Haris to reporters, Wednesday, June 30.

He then advised ICW to report Firli through the Directorate of Public Complaints (Dumas) of the KPK. This is because the supervisory board does not have the authority to handle criminal cases such as gratuities.

"Allegations of gratification can be reported to the Directorate of Public Complaints of the KPK. The Council has no authority in criminal cases," he said.

Previously reported, the Chair of the KPK Firli Bahuri was reported by ICW to the KPK Supervisory Board regarding the use of helicopters when he was traveling from Palembang to Baturaja.

This is the second report that ICW has made regarding the alleged ethical violation by Firli. In 2020, this anti-corruption organization had reported Firli to the KPK Council for alleged ethical violations during a hand arrest operation (OTT) at the Jakarta State University (UNJ).

At that time, ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana ensured that the report submitted this time was different from the ethical decision that had been handed down to Firli regarding the helicopter rental. It is known, some time ago, Firli had indeed been given a light ethical sanction by Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean et al in the helicopter rental.

The reason is that ICW reported Firli's dishonesty regarding the value of the helicopter rental. Based on the information they got, the price for renting the Eurocopter (EC) helicopter, code PK-JTO, that Firli was traveling in was around Rp. 39 million per hour. Meanwhile, Firli said renting the helicopter was Rp. 7 million per hour.

Thus, the KPK Supervisory Board should be able to explore deeper into the helicopter rental receipt given by the KPK chairman. Moreover, ICW has also attached its findings.
