Condolences, Puan Maharani Asks For The Search For KMP Yunicee Victims To Continue

JAKARTA - The Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, expresses her condolences over the sinking of the Yunicee Ferry Ship (KMP) in the Gilimanuk harbor waters, Bali, Tuesday, June 29, evening.

Puan requested that local authorities continue to search for the whereabouts of the ship and the passengers on board. "I ask for the search for victims to continue," said Puan, Wednesday, June 30.

Puan emphasized that the authorities must find out the cause of the sinking of KMP Yunicee. As well as evaluating in order to improve the governance of ship transportation which is a means of public transportation.

The PDIP politician emphasized that shipworthiness regulations and ship safety regulations must be fully complied with. And it must be ensured that the crew members (ABK) are well trained when dealing with emergency situations.

"In the future, transportation at sea must be safer and more comfortable, must be more prepared in anticipation and the process of evacuating passengers if things happen that are not desirable," said Puan.

The former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also conveyed his deep condolences to the victims and their families. "May the victims and their families be given the strength to recover from their wounds and grief," he said.

It was reported that KMP Yunicee, which was about to dock at Gilimanuk Harbor, overturned and sank on Tuesday, June 29, at around 19.20 WITA.

According to the Head of the Bali Basarnas, Gede Darmada, as of Wednesday, June 30, morning, it was reported that 7 people had died and 6 others were still being searched.

KMP Yunicee manifest data as many as 41 passengers, 13 crew members and 3 canteen staff. However, up to now, 59 people have been evacuated, both safe and dead.
