JAKARTA - The Indonesian Armed Forces' Counter-Terrorism Unit (Satgultor) managed to seize the RI House of Representatives from terrorist control while rescuing officials from being held hostage on Sunday, 27 June. This action took place dramatically, quickly, and violently without causing casualties from state officials who were held hostage by terrorist groups.

The Commander of the TNI Special Operations Command (Dankoopssus TNI) Major General Richard TH Tampubolon said the control of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Nusantara Building and the release of hostages by the TNI Satgultor from acts of terrorism were training scenarios. This is done to test the readiness of the TNI Satgultor.

The TNI Satgultor consists of Unit 81 Kopassus, Denjaka TNI Navy (AL), and Satbravo 90 Paskhas TNI Air Force (AU).

"The exercise this time was deliberately designed to take place at the Indonesian Parliament Building with the aim of testing the readiness of the TNI Satgultor soldiers," Richard said in a written statement, Sunday, June 27.

With this exercise, it is hoped that soldiers' abilities can be honed and they are ready to carry out special operations with various terrains they face.

The drama of the hostage-taking, the release of hostages, and the takeover of the Indonesian House of Representatives by the Indonesian Armed Forces Satgultor was witnessed directly by the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Rahmat Gobel, General Secretary of the DPD RI Rahman Hadi, Bobby Adhityo Rizaldi and other members of the House of Representatives. Meanwhile, TNI officials who attended included the Inspector General of the TNI, Lt. Gen. (Mar) Bambang Suswantono, Asrenum TNI Commander, Admiral TNI Heru Kusmanto, Assistant Chief of the TNI Commander, Maj. Gen. Syafruddin, and others.

Furthermore, Richard said that even though the COVID-19 pandemic is still happening, all TNI Satgultor soldiers are still trying to train themselves and prepare everything as a form of preparedness.

This kind of training will be carried out in various places. The goal is to equip soldiers with knowledge and skills to recognize various terrains and obstacles, whether in forests, waters, or cities.

"So that all TNI Satgultor soldiers are always ready to be assigned inside and outside the territory of the Republic of Indonesia," said Richard.

With the implementation of the terror countermeasures exercise by the TNI Satgultor, Richard hopes that the soldiers will be more confident in applying their abilities, skills, and skills to deal with various threats of acts of terrorism in the country.

Richard also explained that the training for countering terror by the TNI Satgultor had been carried out routinely by the TNI Koopssus since its establishment in 2019.

In every implementation of the TNI Satgultor exercise, the TNI Koopssus plans an exercise according to the dynamics of threats that occur at the global, regional, and national levels so that threats that occur can always be anticipated by TNI Satgultor soldiers.

"The TNI Koopssus will always maintain its capabilities and skills and will continue to fight to fortify the Republic of Indonesia from acts of terrorism," he concluded.
