Despite Absence Of Session, Cianjur District Court Laws Owners Of Bodong Investments To Pay Rp 49 Billion In Compensation

CIANJUR - The District Court (PN) of Cianjur, West Java, found guilty of HA, the owner of a fraudulent investment that had cost thousands of its customers tens of billions of rupiah. HA had to pay compensation of Rp49 billion.

Public Relations of the Cianjur District Court, Donovan Akbar, said that the panel of judges found HA guilty of committing an unlawful act and granted the lawsuit for some of the customers' demands.

"The defendant and his legal counsel were not present, in fact we had submitted three summons before the trial began. We are still informing the defendant of the verdict," Donovan said when contacted by Antara, Thursday, June 24.

It will wait for an answer from the defendant or his legal representative regarding the decision. "If there is no lawsuit, we will declare inkrah and have permanent legal force," he said.

He explained that the compensation value was decided in accordance with the demands for material losses of thousands of victims. For immaterial losses of Rp. 15 billion, it was not granted because there was not enough evidence.

Thousands of more participants in this fraudulent investment came from several districts, such as Cianjur, West Bandung, Sukabumi and Bogor. They reported HA as the owner of the investment to the Cianjur Police Headquarters in 2020.

Until the agreed time limit, HA did not keep its promise to disburse all packages that participated in the participants, such as sacrificial packages, electronic goods to vehicles. Even in mid-2020, HA disappeared until he was finally caught in West Bandung.

Participants who felt cheated had time to occupy the suspect's luxury house which was eventually fitted with a police line.
