Danger! Jakarta's COVID-19 Case Today Breaks A Record 7,505, 15 Percent Infects Children

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Province today recorded the highest COVID-19 cases during the pandemic, namely 7,505 cases. In fact, previously the daily increase in cases was in the range of 3,000 to 5,000 cases.

Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division of the DKI Health Office, Dwi Oktavia, explained that the results of today's positive cases were taken from the PCR examination as many as 25,575 specimens.

In fact, said Dwi, as many as 15 percent of the new cases today were transmitted to children under the age of 18.

"A total of 830 cases were children aged 6-18 years and 282 cases were children aged 0-5 years. Meanwhile, 5,775 cases were aged 19-59 years and 618 cases were aged 60 years and over," Dwi said in his statement, Thursday, June 24.

Dwi asked parents to realize the importance of keeping their children's activities more strict and avoiding going out with their children.

"As much as possible, do activities at home with children, because positive cases in children are currently still high," he said.

Meanwhile, the distribution of 7,505 positive cases today spread across the Thousand Islands 2 cases, West Jakarta 1,550 cases, Central Jakarta 836 cases, South Jakarta 1,105 cases, East Jakarta 2310 cases, and North Jakarta 954 cases, as well as case data that is still in the verification process as many as 748.

"Meanwhile, the sub-districts with the highest number of cases include Ciracas with 350 cases, Cipayung with 341 cases, Kembangan with 322 cases, and Pulo Gadung with 305 cases," said Dwi.

In addition, the number of active cases in Jakarta today increased by 5,195 cases, so the number of active cases to date is 40,900 people who are still being treated or isolated.

Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed cases in Jakarta to date is 494,462 cases. Of the total number of positive cases, 445,450 were declared cured and 8,112 people died.

"We at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government urge all residents to increase vigilance and be more obedient to health protocols, because of the rapid transmission of COVID-19. Obey the applicable rules as our joint effort to suppress the spread of this virus," he added.
