JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan expressed his sadness when he met families who had lost loved ones due to COVID-19. Anies shared this sad moment on his official Twitter, @aniesbaswedan, and his Facebook account, Wednesday, June 23.

"Deaths are not just statistics. But about our relatives, people who were still healthy, are still together with their beloved families. Now they are separated forever. Remember, each number is a story of immeasurable sorrow," Anies tweeted on Twitter, as quoted on Thursday, June 24.

Anies told a long story when he met people who had lost their loved ones. A mother who lost her husband, a father who lost his wife, or a teenager who gave up his parents for good.

Their eyes were wet, tears were flowing with their shoulders shaking. Anies just stared, patted them on the shoulder, and tried to strengthen them to be willing to accept this sudden departure.

"Today the burial record during the Covid-19 outbreak in DKI: 180 bodies were buried with the Covid-19 procedure. The new land in Rorotan is 3 hectares in size, specifically for Covid,"

"Even though it's spacious, please don't fill it up. Yes, don't fill it up, don't fill it with corpses like today again. Enough, enough is enough. We don't want to see more sad faces," said Anies.

Anies advised the public to be orderly and disciplined to avoid places that have the potential for transmission. Don't forget, vaccination must be rushed as a safety measure.
