COVID-19 Goes Away In The Middle Of The Anniversary Of The City Of Jakarta, Anies: We Are Tested By A Pandemic

JAKARTA - Today, June 22, the City of Jakarta celebrates its 494th anniversary. The anniversary of the City of Jakarta this time in the midst of the crazy COVID-19 cases and a new variant from India.

In fact, two days before the anniversary of DKI or on Sunday, June 20, new cases reached a record high during the pandemic, which was 5,582 cases. After that, new cases still touched 5,014 on Monday, June 21.

The number of active cases in Jakarta increased by 1,918 cases, bringing the number of active cases to 32,060 people. Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed cases in Jakarta to date is 479,043 cases.

Of the total number of positive cases, a total of 439,007 people were declared cured with a cure rate of 91.6 percent. Then, there were a total of 7,976 people died with a mortality rate of 1.7 percent.

The percentage of positive case results or the positivity rate in the past week in Jakarta rose to 26.4 percent, while the percentage of positive cases in total was 11.3 percent. In fact, WHO sets the standard for the percentage of positive cases not more than 5 percent.

The number of children in DKI Jakarta who are positive for COVID-19 also continues to grow. Based on data until June 20, there were 876 children under 18 who were positive for COVID-19.

The bed occupancy ratio (BOR) for COVID-19 treatment in Jakarta is also running low. The BOR for isolation of COVID-19 patients currently reaches 90 percent.

Meanwhile, the BOR for the ICU specifically for COVID-19 reached 81 percent. In fact, the DKI Provincial Government has recently increased the number to a total of 10 thousand beds.

In commemorating the anniversary of Jakarta in the midst of a pandemic, the Governor of DKI Jakarta said the theme for this year's commemoration of the anniversary of DKI was 'Jakarta Rise'. This theme was chosen because Jakarta is still facing the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

"The theme of this year's commemoration of Jakarta's Anniversary is 'Jakarta Rise'. This theme has a meaning as an effort to recover the economy, restore health conditions to a city of resilience, which is sustainable, which illustrates the dream of the citizens of Jakarta to rise," said Anies at the commemoration ceremony of the 494th anniversary of Jakarta in DKI City Hall, Tuesday, June 22.

Anies views that Jakarta facilitates the presence of a better life. However, currently all parties are facing a wave of pandemics, the impact of the health crisis, to the economy.

Therefore, Anies reminded all people who come to Jakarta to play a role in facing challenges. The goal is to encourage progress for individuals, families, and communities in the capital city.

"That's why I remind you, when facing a pandemic, let's send a message to ourselves, our children, the children of our children that we, this generation, are a tough generation, tenacious, able to face challenges," said Anies.

"God has destined this generation to be a generation that is ready to face a pandemic. We are tested by a pandemic. But we are all sure that Allah will not give us a test, a trial, which we are unable to endure," he added.
