JAKARTA - An electronic ticketing system or e-TLE will be developed to take action against traffic offenders. In addition to improving the application of laws against traffic offenders, this system is expected to prevent Polri members from acting 'naughty'.
"With the e-TLE installed either statically or at certain points, in addition to disciplining our society, it will discipline members of the National Police who often reconcile when ticketed," said Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Gatot Eddy Pramono, in Jakarta, Thursday, December 5.
This electronic ticketing system is considered capable of reducing the number of traffic violators and increasing driving discipline.
Initially, in 2018, this system only targeted four-wheeled vehicles. However, starting next year, this system will be applied to two-wheeled vehicles that violate traffic. The reason is that two-wheeled riders violate traffic regulations at most.
However, there is no certainty about the exact time the system will be put into effect. Because until now, officers from the Traffic Directorate are still reviewing several aspects related to the policy.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusuf, said that the implementation of the electronic ticketing system was hampered by the operation of the camera. This is because the Motor Vehicle Number Mark (TNKB), aka the police number plate on motorbikes, is located in different locations and is smaller than the TNKB car.
"We are setting it up for the TNKB in what position it can be recorded. The TNKB motorbike is different (position), different from the car. We synchronize how the camera can penetrate from various directions," said Yusuf.
Later, when it is ready, the system will first be tested for socialization before it is officially enforced with a span of about 30 days.
In addition, the process of repression will also be the same as that of a four-wheeled vehicle. Where, the offenders will be verified by officers. After that, then the ticketed letter is sent to the address listed on the vehicle documents.
Likewise with the cameras used to record offenders, it would be the same. However, the camera will be upgraded so that it can record the motorcycle TNKB.
"It's the same (using the camera), only the features will be added later. It's technical," said Yusuf.
