JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto said that the issuance of Presidential Decree 64/2020 which regulates the increase in BPJS Health premiums is the government's step to provide better health services for the community.

"The government is doing its best in improving health services to provide better and more sustainable health insurance to all people," Airlangga told reporters, Monday, May 18.

The implementation of this Presidential Regulation will be carried out in stages by the government. Airlangga also stated that the government is committed to helping the lower economic class by setting rates that must be paid.

Airlangga explained, the participants in class III as many as 21.6 million Independent Workers (PBPU) and Non-Workers, now pay a dues of IDR 25,500 per person every month. This means that the contribution is not increased according to the decision of the Supreme Court and is lower than the contribution for the poor, which is Rp. 42 thousand per person per month.

Of this amount, he also explained that the state has provided a subsidy of IDR 16,500 per person per month with an amount of IDR 42 thousand less IDR 25,500. The subsidies will be provided until December 2020.

"So it is given relaxation and relief where the gap between Rp. 42 thousand and Rp. 25,500 or Rp. 16,500 is paid by the state and has been included in the 2020 budget," he explained.

Currently, Airlangga explained that there are 132.6 million poor and underprivileged people who are BPJS Kesehatan (JKN) participants for free, who get Class III equivalent services and a fee of IDR 42 thousand per person per month.

This contribution is borne by the Government through the APBN for Contribution Assistance Recipients (PBI) of 96.6 million people, and APBD of 36 million people by the Regional Government. Meanwhile, starting on July 1, the tuition fees for Class I PBPU and BP will be adjusted to Rp150,000 per person per month. Then the premium for PBPU and BP Class II participants is IDR 100,000 per person per month.

This fee, he said, is still far below the actuarial calculation. This means that Class I and Class II participants are still assisted by other membership segments.

In addition, participants who cannot afford Class I and Class II health services are welcome to move to Class III which only pays IDR 25,500 per person per month, which is a much cheaper rate than the rate for poor people of IDR 42 thousand paid by the state. .

Meanwhile, with regard to indications of fraud as conveyed by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Airlangga said that this would be followed up directly by BPJS Kesehatan.

"Fraud is followed up at BPJS Kesehatan itself," he concluded.
