JAKARTA - The variant of COVID-29 Delta, which initially appeared in India, is now increasingly spreading in East Java. The East Java Provincial Health Office found five additional cases of corona virus infection variant B.1,617.2 or the Delta variant, so that currently there are a total of eight cases of infection with the Delta variant corona virus found in the East Java region.

"The five most recent cases, previously three cases, so there are eight cases so far," said Head of the East Java Health Service, Herlin Ferliana, as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, June 19.

Herlin explained that of the eight patients infected with the Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2, four people underwent treatment at the Indrapura Field Hospital (RSLI) Surabaya, three people were treated at private hospitals, and one person underwent treatment at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD). ) Bojonegoro.

"Among them are people who were caught from the insulation on the Suramadu Bridge, but there are also those who have been treated at the hospital," he said.

He explained that further examinations to detect transmission of the new variant of the corona virus were carried out on COVID-19 patients with CT values below 25 who were undergoing treatment at the hospital.

"If the Ct Value is below 25, we anticipate that genome sequencing will be carried out," he said.

The former Director of the Surabaya Menur Mental Hospital asked the public to be aware of the transmission of the Delta variant of the corona virus, which can spread quickly.

On Monday, June 14, East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa confirmed that there were three patients infected with the Delta variant of the corona virus in the East Java region.

Two of the patients had only mild symptoms and one had no symptoms. The condition of the three patients is reported to be stable.
