COVID-19 Update As Of May 15: Positive Case Trends In A Number Of Regions Almost Flat

JAKARTA - Government spokesman for the handling of COVID-19 Achmad Yurianto (Yuri) explained, there were an additional 490 confirmed positive cases as of Friday, May 15 at 12.00 WIB. The total number of positive cases became 16,496 people.

Even so, there was good news received. The number of recovered cases has outperformed the death cases. There were an additional 285 patients recovered, bringing the total to 3,803 patients.

Meanwhile, 33 patients died, bringing it to 1,076 patients. In this case, there are comorbidities that worsen the patient's condition, namely comorbid hypertension, diabetes, heart disease and lung disease.

The province with the most positive cases was DKI Jakarta, namely 5,774 people. Followed by East Java with positive cases 1,921 people, West Java 1,596 people, and Central Java 1,109 people.

Yuri said, the addition of COVID-19 cases was still high because transmission from positive cases without symptoms (carrier) was still common. However, if you look at it, there is a distribution of districts / cities that have become increasingly affected. A number of regions also have a graph of the addition of positive cases that is almost flat.

"If we pay attention, there are 1 or 2 city regencies that still show a trend with higher additions. However, many of them are no longer exponential, but almost flat," Yuri said in a press conference at Graha BNPB, East Jakarta, Friday, May 15.

Looking at the distribution data per province, there are indeed several regions that report neither new cases nor a minimum number of cases per day. The provinces that reported 0 cases today are Aceh, Bangka Belitung, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Lampung, Maluku, West Papua, West Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara.

Then, several provinces that had additional cases of no more than 5 cases were Yogyakarta with 3 cases, Jambi 3 cases, Central Kalimantan 4 cases, Riau Islands 4 cases, Central Sulawesi 1 case, Riau 1 case, Papua 3 cases, and Gorontalo 1 case.

Furthermore, additional numbers also occurred in patient data under surveillance (PDP) with a total of 34,360 people. Meanwhile, the cases of people under monitoring (ODP) increased to 269,919.

In addition, the government has conducted a sample test for saliva (swab) or Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) and a rapid molecular test (TCM) totaling 178,602 examinations. The number of cases examined was 132,060 people. The number of RT-PCR examination laboratories reached 61 laboratories and 9 TCM laboratories.

"Seeing that indeed contact with positive cases without symptoms is still occurring, let's together we remember again about how to prevent transmission of COVID-19," said Yuri.

"Wash your hands using soap and running water, when you leave the house, avoid the crowd, and when you return home, make sure you replace the mask with a new one," Yuri explained.
