BANYUWANGI - Pancer Beach, Banyuwangi, East Java, is not as usual. There are no fishermen loading and unloading the caught fish.

This area on the south coast of Java is used for marine training. The scenario is, there is a group of terrorists holding the US Ambassador to Indonesia hostage. He was taken hostage while on a working visit to the Banyuwangi area.

This scenario is part of the joint training material for the Indonesian and US Marines that has been running since June 3, 2021. The release of the hostages is the culmination of the exercise codenamed Reconex 21-II.

So with this incident and with the approval of the two countries, the Marine Corps Marine Corps Amphibious Reconnaissance with the United States Marines Corps (USMC) Reconnaissance Unit received orders to release the hostages.

The two then made plans for the release of the hostages at the Command Post located at the 7 Lampon Marine Corps Battle Training Center, Banyuwangi.

The liberation was carried out by land and air using the Bell-412/HU-4206 Heli aircraft. There was a shootout with the terrorist group when the two units approached the terrorist headquarters.

With his abilities as special forces, Marines from both countries managed to knock out members of terrorist groups.

They managed to free the American Ambassador who was held hostage. Then it was secured by means of STABO using the Bell-412/HU-4206 Heli belonging to the 400th Air Wing Squadron 2 Puspenerbal Surabaya.

"The full mission profile exercise is a combination of the materials trained in Reconex 21-II," said Dansatgaslat Lt. Col. Mar Supriyono, Tuesday, June 15.

Previously, a number of training materials were carried out, namely breaking waves, long range navigation, pilot swimming, confirmation of landing beaches, Jungle Patrol, Close Quarter Battle (CQB), Fastrope, STABO, shooting and Survival.
