JCI Closed Thursday, Weakening 0.89 Percent To 4,513.83 Levels

JAKARTA - The Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed lower on Thursday, May 14 trading. JCI closed down 0.89 percent or 40.53 points to 4,513.83 levels.

Closing the trade, 115 stocks rose, 268 fell, and 155 shares remained unchanged. The trading volume was recorded at 6.85 billion shares and was transacted for IDR 6.66 trillion.

Binaartha Sekuritas analyst, M. Nafan Aji Gustama, said that the Governor of The Fed, Jerome Powell, issued a statement before the US Congress that was somewhat realistic in responding to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the US economy, because the recovery of the US economic performance would not take place very quickly.

"So the market has responded negatively to this," Nafan told VOI.

This afternoon, stocks that were among the top gainers, including PT Media Nusantara Citra Tbk (MNCN) which rose 7.83 percent to Rp895, PT Pacific Strategic Financial Tbk (APIC) which rose 4.88 percent to Rp860, and PT Gudang Garam Tbk (GGRM), which strengthened 4.43 percent to IDR47,750.

Meanwhile, stocks that are among the top losers include PT Envy Technologies Indonesia Tbk (ENVY) which fell 6.67 percent to Rp98, PT Bank BRIsyariah Tbk (BRIS) which fell 6.43 percent to Rp262, and PT Adaro Energy Tbk (ADRO), which weakened 5.50 percent to IDR945.
