Anies Baswedan Calls DKI An Endangered COVID-19, Ruhut: The One Who Says He's Forgetting To Be Governor

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said DKI Jakarta is facing a critical phase of COVID-19. This follows an increase in active cases, bed occupancy rates and daily positive cases.

If fast steps are not taken, collective discipline by involving the community, law enforcement officers and the government, overcoming the wave of COVID will be difficult.

Anies' statement was responded negatively by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician, Ruhut Sitompul, although he did not mention Anies directly. Ruhut said he should be ashamed to say that DKI is in a critical state of COVID.

"Should be ashamed to say that DKI is critical regarding the spread of the corona virus, who forgets to be the governor, ha ha ha," Ruhut tweeted via his Twitter account, @ruhutsitompul, Monday, June 14.

Anies previously said that Jakarta was entering a very critical phase of COVID-19 if no action was taken. Referring to data on June 6, positive cases of COVID rose by 11,500 to 17,400, an increase of about 50 percent within 1 week.

"The positivity rate increased from 9 percent last week to 17 percent. Even though in Jakarta the ability to test 4 times, this week it was increased 8 times, but the positivity rate is still high," explained Anies after the joint rally in South Jakarta, Sunday, June 13. yesterday.
