Fadli Zon prepares a Museum of Indonesian Music in Bandung, here is the location

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture is preparing the construction of the Indonesian Music Museum in Bandung City, West Java. This step is taken as an effort to document the long journey of national music as well as preserve the legacy of Indonesian musicians from time to time.

The Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, said that the museum was designed professionally to be able to present a complete picture of the history of Indonesian music.

"We at the Ministry of Culture are pioneering an Indonesian Music Museum that is proper, which at least can give an overview of Indonesian music from the beginning to the end," said Fadli Zon when attending the "Along the Way of Memories: A Million Stories Is Haryanto" concert in Jakarta, Wednesday (5/8/2026) evening.

Located at the Cagar Budaya Building, Asia Africa Street

Fadli Zon revealed that the museum is planned to occupy the former Jiwasraya Building located on Jalan Asia Afrika, Bandung. The historic building, which is a cultural heritage, is known to have long been out of use.

"We have got the building, namely the former Jiwasraya. It is a cultural heritage building that has been idle for a long time, now we want to use it as best we can," he said.

Displaying Memorabilia of Legendary Musicians and Digitizing Works

The Indonesian Music Museum in Bandung will later exhibit various journeys of the national music era, including valuable memorabilia owned by Indonesian legends and composers.

A number of initial collections that have been received by the ministry include:

Titiek Puspa: A series of awards belonging to the legendary Indonesian music. Idris Sardi: Collection of the legacy of the maestro of the violin of the country.

In addition to the physical exhibition, the government is also intensively discussing with musicians and composers to formulate the concept of the museum. This project also includes a program to digitize Indonesian songs while ensuring the protection of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR).

"Of course we have discussed with musicians and composers, how in the future the figures who are the pillars of Indonesian music can be depicted there. Also the songs, the digitization of the songs with attention to intellectual property rights," said Fadli.

The event commemorating Is Haryanto was also enlivened by the appearance of cross-generational singers such as Yuni Shara, Hedi Yunus, Vien Is Haryanto, Ria Resty Fauzy, Dian Mayasari, Lies Meriawati, Johan Untung, Mario, Marco, to Julian Dekiata with the accompaniment of the Audiensi Band.
