Gibran’s Visits Seen as Strengthening Prabowo’s Government–Public Ties

JAKARTA - Director of the Indonesian Political House, Fernando Emas, considers the intensity of Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's visit to various regions to be a positive step to strengthen President Prabowo Subianto's government and bring the government closer to the community.

According to Fernando, even though he has not served as vice president for two years, Gibran has visited more than 100 points in more than 30 provinces. This activity is considered to show the seriousness of the government in directly absorbing people's aspirations.

"Of course, the visit should be appreciated and supported because it is an effort to bring leaders closer to their people, as was done by Joko Widodo when he served as president for two terms," said Fernando in his statement, Tuesday, August 4.

He assessed that Gibran's presence in various regions is expected to be able to dampen various unrest in the community as well as minimize negative perceptions of the course of the Prabowo government.

Fernando said that Gibran's visit was not only aimed at the general public, but also religious figures, kiai, ulama, and community leaders. According to him, this pattern of communication is important to strengthen the relationship between the government and various elements of the nation.

He also assessed Gibran's activities as proving the existence of good synergy between President Prabowo and Vice President Gibran in running the government.

"This proves that the Prabowo-Gibran pair mutually strengthen and complement each other and there is no attempt to bring their respective agendas, but for the continuity of the government until the end of the term," he said.

Fernando argues that Gibran's relatively young age is a capital to carry out field tasks, including conducting working visits to various regions to ensure that government priority programs run well.

"So, no one should try to clash between Prabowo and Gibran because I believe that visiting the region is a task for the vice president from President Prabowo," he said.

According to Fernando, as vice president, Gibran has carried out his duties in accordance with the constitution and based on the assignment given by the President. He assessed Gibran's ability to accompany President Prabowo was increasingly tested along with the intensity of the working visits carried out.

"Gibran's ability and maturity as a companion to President Prabowo Subianto have been tested and proven to exceed the expectations of many people who have been pessimistic and doubtful," said Fernando.

He hopes that visits to the region will continue so that the government can get closer to the community, as well as be a means of absorbing various problems in the region so that solutions can be found together with President Prabowo.

"I hope Gibran will continue to visit the regions so that the government is closer to the people and the implementation of flagship programs is better and in line with people's expectations. In addition, efforts to directly listen to community issues to be conveyed to President Prabowo so that solutions can be found immediately," he concluded.
