DPRD Says Anies Hasn't Coordinated Issuing Governor's Regulation On The Use Of Facilities For COVID-19 Patients And Healthcare Workers

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, S. Andyka, said that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had not coordinated regarding the decision to use regional facilities for COVID-19 patients without symptoms or health workers.

The use of facilities such as guesthouses, sports halls (GOR), and schools is indeed carried out by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government because the central government has stopped financing hotels for patients and health workers.

"Until now, there has been no discussion. However, I think it would be very wise if the council was invited to talk," Andyka told reporters quoted on Saturday, June 12.

The DKI Jakarta DPRD, he said, must be talked to because they are part of the local government. Not only that, they are also responsible for the community or their constituents in the electoral district who often complain during the recess.

Therefore, regional council members should be consulted on every decision taken. "It is wise for us to be consulted so that we can get a decision that we can share with the community and the central government," he said.

Even so, Andyka still understands Anies' decision, which he considers as a step to accelerate the handling of COVID-19 patients and fulfill the need for temporary housing for health workers. Moreover, this instruction from the central government must be followed up immediately so that patient handling is not disturbed.

"Perhaps in this case the governor thinks that there must be quick steps taken and it refers to instructions from the center, so there is not enough time to invite us to chat or ask for consideration," he said.

"Because it has been decided through the Kepgub, so I think if the regulations have been issued, it's fine. After all, we also have a bridge (connection) through the Deputy Governor (Ahmad Riza Patria) and I believe this is the right and best decision," added Andyka.

Previously, the central government stopped financing the isolation facilities for COVID-19 patients at hotels, inns and guesthouses in Jakarta. Not only that, the cost of lodging for health workers who handle COVID-19 is also the same.

Therefore, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has set a number of new isolation locations. This is stated in the Governor's Decree (Kepgub) Number 675 of 2021.

The Governor's Decree, which was signed on May 31, 2021, revoked the Governor's Decree No. 979 of 2020 calmly that the isolation location was controlled for previous COVID-19 patients.

"With the policy of the National COVID-19 Handling Task Force regarding the termination of financing for hotels, lodging, and guesthouses for confirmed COVID-19 people, both asymptomatic and with mild symptoms, and lodging costs for health workers handling COVID-19 and guaranteeing legal certainty in fulfilling the need for controlled isolation facilities and lodging for health workers, the Governor's Decree No. 979 of 2020 needs to be changed," Anies said to the governor, quoted Monday, June 7.

The determination of the isolation location was also carried out when new COVID-19 clusters began to appear in a number of RTs, such as in Ciracas, Semper Barat, to Kayu Putih.

Currently, there are thousands of isolation beds and lodging for health workers provided by Anies. These locations are in hotels, guesthouses, flats, sports halls, mosques, and schools.
