TVRI Archives to be Used for Museum and Hero Films

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Culture will utilize the TVRI audiovisual archive for the development of the Indonesian Film Museum, Photography Museum, Music Museum, as well as the production of films with a heroic theme.

The plan was discussed by Minister of Culture Fadli Zon together with TVRI President Director Tubagus Fiki Chikara Satari in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 22.

Fadli said TVRI has archives of films, music, photos, and historical documentation that are important to strengthen the story about the journey of Indonesian culture.

The archive will be used to support the Indonesian Film Museum in Old Jakarta, the Photography Museum in Semarang, and the Music Museum in Bandung.

The Ministry of Culture also prepared feature films, short films, and documentaries on the theme of heroism in accordance with the President's instructions.

In the project, TVRI is expected to open access to historical footage, especially the period from 1945 to 1950.

"We hope to work together with TVRI through the use of historical recording archives, especially the period from 1945 to 1950," said Fadli.

Cooperation also includes the development of cultural programs for public broadcasting. The Ministry of Culture offers materials in the form of art festivals, traditional music, Anugerah Musik Indonesia, documentary films, talks, and educational content.

Fadli assessed that the TVRI network could be combined with the Cultural Preservation Center which is spread across various provinces.

"The Ministry of Culture has Cultural Preservation Halls in various provinces, while TVRI has a network of broadcasting stations throughout Indonesia," he said.

The two institutions also discussed the rearrangement of national songs with young singers. The program is planned to air ahead of the anniversary of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

Tubagus Fiki said TVRI has 16 Creative Hubs and three main channels, namely TVRI National, TVRI World, and TVRI Sport, which can be used to broadcast the results of collaboration.

TVRI is also preparing a TVRI Museum. The museum will contain photos, archives, and broadcasting equipment that record the journey of television in Indonesia.

The cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and TVRI will focus on films, music, performing arts, visual arts, literature, and the utilization of broadcasting archives.
