Road Bike Enters JLNT Rejected By Bicycle Community, Deputy Governor Of DKI: Policy Can't Satisfy All Parties

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI, Ahmad Riza Patria, responded to the Bike to Work community who refused the road bike policy to be allowed to cross the non-toll flyover (JLNT).

Riza admitted that the DKI Provincial Government cannot please all parties when setting a policy. Of course, there will be parties who support and oppose this policy.

"Support for and against is normal. It is impossible for all of these policies to satisfy all parties," said Riza at City Hall, Friday, June 11.

Riza said that the policy that allows road bikes to enter the Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang JLNT is still under discussion among related stakeholders. In fact, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has yet to issue an official regulation.

"We, the DKI Provincial Government have not made a decision regarding the road bike policy. It is still in the trial process. So, please be patient," he said.

"Indeed, now is a good time for us to give each other input, suggestions, as well as criticism, recommendations. Please all communities provide input to all of us so that we can hear directly the aspirations," he added.

For information, the DKI Provincial Government allows special road bikes to pass JLNT Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang on Saturdays and Sundays, from 05.00 WIB to 08.00 WIB.

The Bike to Work Indonesia cyclist community rejects this policy. The General Chair of Bike to Work Putut Sudaryanto considers that his party rejects the privilege of road bikes because the policies taken by the DKI Transportation Department regarding the transportation system must be equal.

"Policies must be implemented with the principle of equality and proportionality, so that all types of transportation modes must be treated equally and equally. Back to the initial rules of JLNT Casablanca, motorbikes are not allowed, so bicycles should also not be allowed," said Putut to VOI.

Therefore, Bike to Work Indonesia will hold a JLNT protest. In the b2w_indonesia Instagram account, the protest action called Black Day will be held at the end of the JLNT in the direction of Kota Kasablanka.

Bike to Work will take action on Sunday, June 13 at 06.00-07.00 WIB wearing black clothes. They will perform theatrical sowing of flowers around road bike signs, followed by reading a statement of attitude.
