JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri, had become the target of netizens who considered her scientific work as a condition for obtaining the title of Honorary Professor with the status of a non-permanent professor from the Indonesian Defense University (IDU) as if praising herself.

This satire arose because of the scientific work he wrote entitled President Megawati's Leadership in the Era of the Multidimensional Crisis 2001-2004.

Responding to this innuendo, Megawati admitted that she did not care. This was conveyed in a scientific oration establishing himself as an Honorary Professor of the Indonesian Defense University.

According to him, he has often received many privileges considering his father, Soekarno, was the first President of the Republic of Indonesia. In fact, in 1947 when he was born, the news was announced through the ministry which is now called the Ministry of Communication and Information.

"There was an announcement that the president was said to be Your Excellency, from Your Excellency Doctoral Engineer Soekarno was born blah, blah, blah. Then I was immediately taken care of right, (even though) I was still a baby, you know," Megawati said in her oration which was broadcast online. on the Official Defense University YouTube, Friday, June 11.

Having privileges since birth, of course, makes him different from other children. However, as an adult he continued to succeed in politics and even served as President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2001-2004.

So, he doesn't feel the need to be the one to praise himself. Moreover, to praise through scientific work about his success when leading the country out of the slump of the new order era.

"So if you think about it, someone says I want to praise myself, do you want to be pretentious, what's the point? Already the wareg, I'm full. So the president is done, the president's son is done, thank God," he said.

As previously reported, the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri officially holds the title of Honorary Professor with the status of a non-permanent professor by the Indonesian Defense University. The awarding of this title was determined through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33271/mpk.a/kp.05.00/2021 which was signed by Nadiem Makarim.

"As of June 1, 2021, he will be appointed as a professor in strategic leadership science. Established in Jakarta on May 20, 2021. Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Anwar Makarim," said the Secretary of the Academic Senate in an event broadcast on the Official Defense University YouTube account on Friday, June 11 .

In the awarding ceremony, Megawati, who is also the General Chair of the PDI-P, was accompanied by her three children, namely Mohammad Rizki Pratama, Puan Maharani and Prananda Prabowo. In addition, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party was also present at the event.

Not only that, a number of ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. Those present were Minister of Education and Technology, Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Cabinet Secretariat Pramono Anung, and Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.

The Chancellor of the Defense University Vice Admiral TNI Amarulla Octavian said Megawati Soekarnoputri was the best daughter of the Indonesian nation who had proven success as a member of the DPR, Vice President, and even became President.

"Among world leaders, there has not been a woman who has served as Vice President and President in a row. World history also records that there are not many presidents who are also daughters of a previous president," said Amarulla in his remarks.
