BANDA ACEH - The Treasurer of the Aceh Democratic Party DPD, Nurdiansyah Alasta, delivered an open letter to the General Chair of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) ahead of the implementation of the Aceh Democratic Party DPD Regional Conference (Musda).
In the letter, Nurdiansyah admitted that he had received support from 18 Democratic Party Branch Leadership Councils (DPC) in Aceh to run as the candidate for Chairman of the Aceh Democratic Party DPD.
He also said that he had previously asked for the blessing of the Secretary General of the DPP of the Democratic Party as well as the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, before declaring himself as a candidate for chairman.
"At the beginning of the Musda process, I first asked for the blessing of Mr. Teuku Riefky Harsya as a figure and our senior, to run as a candidate for the Chairman of the Aceh Democratic Party DPD. At that time he expressed his approval," said Nurdiansyah in a letter quoted, Wednesday, July 15.
According to Nurdiansyah, the DPC chairmen who supported him had also met with Teuku Riefky in Jakarta as part of the party's process and mechanism.
However, he admitted that this situation has changed. Information received from a number of DPC Chairmen, Nurdiansyah said there was a shift in support to another candidate, namely Sayuti Abubakar.
Sayuti Abubakar is known as the Mayor of Lhokseumawe. Previously, he was a candidate for a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PKB in the 2019 Election and served as Secretary of the Nanggroe Aceh High Council.
"Until today I don't know what my mistake is. I also heard various accusations that have never been clarified to me," said Nurdiansyah in the letter.
He admitted that he had asked several times for a face-to-face meeting with Teuku Riefky to provide an explanation, but until now the opportunity has not been obtained. However, Nurdiansyah emphasized that the open letter was not intended to blame any party, including the DPP leadership of the Democratic Party.
"I just hope you know what I experienced from my point of view as a cadre who has been a careerist from the bottom as the Chairman of the Aceh Tenggara Regency Democratic Party DPC, building support openly, and following the party's mechanisms in good faith," he wrote.
Nurdiansyah stated that he still believed that the Democratic Party upheld kaderisasi, justice, and healthy competition in the process of electing the management. He also emphasized that he would respect whatever decision was later made by the General Chair of the Democratic Party.
"I remain loyal to the Democratic Party and continue to respect all the decisions of the General Chair," he said.
