Mendikbudristek Nadiem Makarim Appoints Megawati Officially Titled Honorary Professor

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri officially holds the title of Honorary Professor with the status of a non-permanent professor by the Indonesian Defense University. The awarding ceremony was held at the Defense University Campus, Sentul, Bogor, West Java.

The awarding of this title was determined through the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 33271/mpk.a/kp.05.00/2021 which was signed by Nadiem Makarim.

"As of June 1, 2021, he will be appointed as a professor in strategic leadership science. Established in Jakarta on May 20, 2021. Indonesian Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Anwar Makarim," said the Secretary of the Academic Senate in an event broadcast on the Official Defense University YouTube account on Friday, June 11 .

In the awarding ceremony, Megawati was accompanied by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, who is also the General Chair of the Gerindra Party. The PDI-P general chairman was also accompanied by his three children, namely Mohammad Rizki Pratama, Puan Maharani and Prananda Prabowo.

There were also a number of ministers in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. Those present were Minister of Education and Technology, Nadiem Makarim, Minister of Cabinet Secretariat Pramono Anung, and Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini. In addition, the Chairman of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo was also present.

The Chancellor of the Defense University Vice Admiral TNI Amarulla Octavian said Megawati Soekarnoputri was the best daughter of the Indonesian nation who had proven success as a member of the DPR, Vice President, and even became President.

"Among world leaders, there has not been a woman who has served as Vice President and President in a row. World history also records that there are not many presidents who are also daughters of a previous president," said Amarulla in his remarks.

He views that the daughter of the Proclaimer of the Republic of Indonesia Soekarno is a national leader who is able to bring the Indonesian state and nation through the difficult times after the 1998 Reformation. "With her strong character and authority, she was able to resolve multidimensional crises and lay a strong foundation for state administration and governance that has been proven to be true up to the present time," he explained.

Amarulla said Megawati's success and achievements in leadership, not only at the regional and global levels, are a tangible manifestation of strategic leadership knowledge. Not only that, during her tenure, Megawati also published many policies that strongly supported the tasks of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the TNI.

Various ideas and ideas about defense are also stated in many state documents and become references for defense doctrine, defense strategy and defense posture.

"Organizing the main defense components is a strategic step to realize the professionalism of the TNI as well as to build awareness of the importance of preparing reserve components and supporting components in the Universal People's Defense and Security System or Sishankamrata," said Amarulla.

In addition, Megawati also demonstrated strong leadership in making Pancasila the state philosophy, the basis of the state, and at the same time the foundation of state government policies.

"In his leadership, Pancasila was also strengthened into a value system, guidelines for the life of the nation and state, and most importantly how to make Pancasila the basis for the direction of state development in order to realize an Indonesia that is sovereign in the political field, independent in the economic field and has a personality in culture," he explained.

"All of these ideas, ideas and policies can be judged as a series of significant scientific works for his leadership to strengthen the identity of the Indonesian people who hold fast to the Pancasila ideology. We all believe that the Pancasila ideology is the sishankamrata's ultimate weapon," he concluded.
