JAKARTA - Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) young figure and author of the book Prabowo for Indonesia Raya, HRM Khalilur R Abdullah Sahlawy or Gus Lilur, asked the public not to lead the alleged involvement of senior officials of the Attorney General's Office in corruption cases as a fight between the National Police and the Prosecutor's Office.
The statement was made following the steps of the joint team of the National Police's Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Ditreskrimsus) which searched 12 locations related to the investigation of three corruption cases, namely coal governance, the development of the Asabri and Jiwasraya 2020-2025 corruption cases, and money laundering (TPPU) in the settlement of PT CBS's debt obligations to PT KNI.
According to Gus Lilur, the ongoing legal process should not be perceived as a conflict between two law enforcement agencies, but should be seen as an effort to take action against individuals suspected of being involved.
"Is the police and the Attorney General's Office really at war? It turns out not. It turns out that it is not a war between institutions, but only the actions of a few individuals who are less self-aware, less smart to reflect, too greedy, without realizing that they are tapping the water and splashing their own faces," said Gus Lilur in his statement, Thursday, July 9.
He assessed that the problem was triggered by poor inter-institutional communication, not because of institutional conflict.
"Everything is triggered by taking the wrong momentum, failing to coordinate, and then feeling great yourself," he said.
Gus Lilur admitted that there was an impression that the National Police felt offended after a high-ranking officer was named a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program on the 80th Bhayangkara Day, July 1, 2026.
However, according to him, the problem felt by the National Police was not the determination of the suspect itself, but the time of the announcement which was considered to coincide with the anniversary of the Bhayangkara Corps.
"Is the National Police not accepting that a National Police officer is named a suspect in a corruption case by the Attorney General's Office? According to me, no. That's because the National Police feels maligned and insulted because the arrest was deliberately used to insult the National Police, it was celebrated Hari Bhayangkara, National Police officers were named suspects, a humiliating gift for Hari Bhayangkara," he said.
However, Gus Lilur emphasized that the legal process against parties suspected of being involved in corruption must continue without intervention.
He asked the public to give space for law enforcement officers to complete the investigation, as well as not build a narrative as if there was a fight between the National Police and the Prosecutor's Office.
"The corruption case that ensnared the top prosecutor must be completed. The President of the Republic of Indonesia must immediately act quickly to reconcile the Prosecutor's Office and the National Police," he said.
According to Gus Lilur, this condition is a test for President Prabowo Subianto to maintain the solidity of the law enforcement agencies while ensuring that law enforcement continues to run professionally.
"This is a small test for the President of the Republic of Indonesia to reconcile his aides so that they are united, not competing, shoulder to shoulder to build a developed nation," he concluded.
