US Attacked Iran Early in the Day, Hit 90 Military Targets and Destroyed a Bridge

JAKARTA - The United States military (US) completed the latest series of attacks against Iran, which hit about 90 military targets on Thursday morning.

"US forces hit about 90 Iranian military targets, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile storage sites and unmanned aerial vehicles (drones), naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along the Iranian coastline. This latest attack follows the successful implementation of an offensive attack in Iran the previous night," wrote the US Central Command (US Central Command/CENTCOM) on the X platform reported by CNN, Thursday, July 9.

CENTCOM said the attack was aimed at "further degrading Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian sailors in the Strait of Hormuz."

Meanwhile, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, the IRGC said the US attacked a railway bridge in Aqqala, an area northeast of Tehran.

Video footage from Iranian media, the location of which has been verified by CNN, shows a damaged railway bridge near Aqqala.

In response to the US attack, the Iranian IRGC Navy and Air Force stated that they launched a joint attack using drones and missiles against US infrastructure and facilities, including Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, as well as Shaikh Isa Air Base and Juffair in Bahrain.

Juffair is the location of the *Naval Support Activity*, the main base of the US Navy in the Persian Gulf which is the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet.

The IRGC said the attack was in response to US attacks on Iran's southern coastal provinces and two bridges in eastern Iran, IRIB reported.
