DKI Provincial Government Prepares UMKM Space on the Senayan City-Plaza Senayan Underground Line

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo plans to use the underground line that will connect Senayan City and Plaza Senayan as a space for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), as well as strengthening pedestrian connectivity and reducing congestion in the Senayan area.

"The space below can be used for selling MSMEs and so on," said Pramono, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 7.

According to him, Jakarta must be managed well, one of which is by breaking down the points of congestion.

By connecting the two shopping centers, it is hoped that this will make it easier for pedestrians to access and reduce congestion in the Senayan area.

"If in Senayan, Plaza Senayan with Senayan City, if it is not connected below, it is very disturbing for transportation and often causes existing congestion," he said.

Furthermore, Pramono said that he had asked the DKI Jakarta Development Assistant to follow up on this matter.

He also hopes that the plan to connect Senayan City and Plaza Senayan can be realized soon, such as in the Bundaran HI area which connects several hotels.

"Hopefully it will be followed up immediately because the more difficult ones can be overcome at HI Roundabout. Connecting Grand Hyatt, Pullman, Mandarin, Kempinski, and later below, then there are MSMEs that are directly connected to the MRT," said Pramono.

Previously, Pramono had said that so far the two shopping centers had not been connected because of the ego of each party. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government encouraged the two to immediately realize the connectivity.

According to Pramono, connectivity will provide benefits for both malls. Because, visitors can move from one location to another without having to cross the road so that traffic flow around the area is also more organized.

He even prepared a step if the two managers did not agree to build the connecting line.

"I said, if you don't want to connect, that's it, we will increase the tax because it interferes with traffic. That's how we work. So we don't have to bother, the tax is raised, they will certainly be willing to negotiate because it is mutually beneficial for both of them," he said.

Pramono assessed that the connection of Plaza Senayan and Senayan City was part of the DKI Provincial Government's efforts to build inter-regional connectivity in Jakarta.

According to him, the construction of pedestrian infrastructure is one of the keys to creating a more comfortable and friendly city for the community.
