JAKARTA - The death toll from the two earthquakes that shook Venezuela reached 3,000, with more than 900 aftershocks recorded by local authorities.
Venezuela's Ministry of Communication and Information on Sunday announced that the number of deaths from the devastating earthquake that hit northern Venezuela last month had risen to 3,342, with 16,740 people injured, reported by Anadolu (6/7).
The ministry further said 6,462 people have been rescued so far after the earthquake, which has affected 856 buildings, with 190 buildings collapsed.
Authorities said 86,794 families had received temporary assistance and 17,345 people were still homeless.

So far, 9,585 metric tons of food and 669,008 liters of water have been distributed, 23,820 patients have received medical treatment, and 79 temporary camps have been established.
Two earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.2 and 7.5 shook the South American country with a 39-second interval on June 24, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
The ministry also noted that so far there have been 995 aftershocks.
