JAKARTA - The solo exhibition of the Chairman of the Police Science Study Center, Inspector General of Police Prof. Dr. Cryshnanada D.L., M.Si., invites the public to see life from a wider perspective, not just black or white.
The exhibition titled "Not Just Black and White" was opened by Inspector General of Police Dr. Susilo Teguh Raharjo at Amuya Kemayoran, Jakarta, Saturday (4/7). The exhibition is scheduled to run until July 18, 2026.
In his remarks, Susilo assessed that the theme contained messages about firmness, authority, purity of heart, and morality. Meanwhile, the phrase "not only" gives room for everyone to interpret the work according to their own experiences and perspectives.
"The phrase 'not only' invites every art lover to perceive and imagine freely," he said.
According to Susilo, the exhibition also shows Cryshnanada's consistency in working and the courage to convey ideas through art.
He said that everyone has a different way of interpreting a work. Therefore, there is no right or wrong interpretation when enjoying a painting.
"Art gives space for everyone to build their own perception," he said.
Susilo also assessed that art exhibitions have a broader function than just displaying works. According to him, art can build social sensitivity, maintain cultural identity, foster tolerance, provide a space for reflection, and encourage community creativity.
The exhibition features the solo works of Komjen Pol Cryshnanada D.L. who has been known to be active in the field of police studies, as well as pursuing the world of painting.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by a number of Jakarta artists, representatives of the Nusantara Painters Association (ASPEN), curators, S-2 students of STIK-PTIK, observers of social problems, and visitors.
