JAKARTA - The Public Relations Officer of the West Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Wisnu Wirawan, explained the viral video uploaded by the Threads @junist.hairdressing account which showed members of the Cengkareng Police even watching a football match when receiving reports of victims of violence.
Wisnu said the police who watched the football match in the viral video were not members who handled community reports, but members who were preparing for a stationary raid in the Cengkareng area.
"So the members who are seen in the video are Pawas (Supervisory Officers) and members who will carry out a stationary raid appeal," said Wisnu as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 1.
Wisnu said that the Cengkareng Police had first given a clarification in the comments column of the viral video upload, as well as through a direct message (direct message/DM) to the account in question.
Initially, said Wisnu, an adult woman whose identity was not known came to the Cengkareng Police on Sunday (28/6) at around 23.50 WIB, to report the alleged act of violence she had experienced.
However, before the mother arrived, there was another report that was being processed by the Cengkareng Police, namely a report of theft of motor vehicles (curanmor).
"Then the SPKT members called the Criminal Investigation Unit and informed that there were two reports. The first report was a robbery, the second was domestic violence," said Wisnu again.
Based on the information from the Cengkareng Police Chief, Wisnu said, the report of theft in progress which is still being processed made the woman asked to wait for some time.
"Not long after, the picket of the Criminal Investigation Unit went to the SPKT or to the lobby to serve the early curanmor reporter," said Wisnu.
Not long after, the alarm siren sounded and upon hearing the siren, the woman in question immediately left the Cengkareng Police.
"Sirens were sounded (for the alert apple). At the same time as the sirens were sounded, the mother of the KDRT reporter immediately went home without notice," said Wisnu.
Wisnu said the woman left the Cengkareng Police without having time to make a police report.
"Because he couldn't wait, the mother made the video and left the police station without making a police report. That's what the police chief said in his clarification," said Wisnu.
Wisnu also emphasized that there was no act of neglect. The police in the video, he said, were members who were preparing for a stationary raid in the Cengkareng area.
"So there is no negligence," said Wisnu.
He also appealed to the public to immediately report to 110 if they knew of any security disturbances.
"We, the police, will follow up on the report immediately and provide a response," said Wisnu.
