Bogor - President Prabowo Subianto asked the National Police to change the way of working to face the new wave of increasingly sophisticated crimes. According to him, Indonesia's threats are no longer limited to narcotics or terrorism, but also online gambling, cybercrime, misuse of artificial intelligence (AI), to corporate crime.

Prabowo conveyed this message during the 80th Police Day Ceremony at the Cikeas Brimob Training Center, Wednesday (1/7).

"Our challenges are getting heavier. Crimes are getting more sophisticated. Technology can also be used for evil purposes," said Prabowo.

He said narcotics were still a serious threat. However, the list of threats is now getting longer, ranging from human trafficking, cybercrime, corruption, smuggling, illegal mining, illegal plantations, to white collar crime.

Although he appreciated the success of the National Police in uncovering thousands of narcotics cases and eradicating online gambling with the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Prabowo reminded the police not to be satisfied quickly.

"Don't be complacent. The challenge is still big," he said.

The President also asked all members of the National Police to master science, technology, and artificial intelligence.

According to him, future crimes can only be defeated by the police who continue to learn, are smart, and are able to follow technological developments.
