SURABAYA - The surge in cases of the spread of COVID-19 in Bangkalan Regency, Madura, has an impact on Surabaya City Government employees. Now, they are forced to work from home aka work from home (WFH).

"This is for the sake of mutual safety and health," said Head of the Surabaya City Personnel and Training Agency (BKD), Mia Santi Dewi, confirmed on Thursday, June 10.

Mia said this was the direction of the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, who instructed all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) in the Surabaya City Government, so that employees who live in Bangkalan do WFH. This policy is an effort to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in office clusters.

"Because the condition is like this now, employees who live in Bangkalan should not commute from Surabaya to Madura, while WFH will do it. The time will depend on the situation," he said.

Regarding the data on how many Surabaya city government employees are domiciled in Bangkalan, Mia explained, her party does not know for sure about the data because they are still waiting for data collection from each OPD.

"Even if there is an address listed on the ID card, they don't necessarily live there, they could live here. For example, the address is Madura, they could have a contract here (Surabaya). We'll wait for the results from each OPD so they can check it first," he said

Regarding the time limit for collecting data on employees who are domiciled in Madura, it is managed by each OPD. "If you are here, you can directly do a swab test first. If it turns out that the swab result is negative, you will return to the WFH right. If it turns out positive, you will be taken to the Surabaya Hajj Dormitory," he said.
