JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Social Affairs has again disbursed additional assistance worth Rp967.5 billion to support the social-economic recovery phase of survivors of flash floods and landslides in Aceh Province, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf said the allocation of this stimulus budget was the ninth period of the list of channels, which would be aimed at handling medium-term emergencies in 10 districts and cities affected in the three provinces.

"Today we are distributing assistance for the Sumatra disaster in 10 regencies. The amount is almost Rp. 1 trillion that we distribute this time, and will continue in the next period if the secondary data collection is complete," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 17.

Saifullah explained that this humanitarian budget intervention was distributed to more than 82 thousand beneficiaries through PT Pos Indonesia services to ensure the speed and accuracy of distribution in areas far from the city center.

The stimulus package is provided in the form of fulfillment of fixed housing content, life assurance assistance (jadup) for three months, and a program to strengthen the communal economic network through economic stimulus assistance funds.

Spatially, this recovery intervention targets six districts and cities in Aceh Province, including Aceh Tamiang Regency, East Aceh, Bireuen, Gayo Lues, Pidie Jaya, and the Langsa City administrative area.

Furthermore, the allocation of assistance is also directed to three regions in North Sumatra Province, namely South Tapanuli Regency, Central Tapanuli, and Sibolga City, as well as Padang Pariaman Regency in West Sumatra Province.

The Ministry of Social Affairs' Coordinating Unit confirmed that based on the Post-disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (PRR) data for this phase, the largest allocation of funds was allocated to Aceh Tamiang Regency, namely IDR 448.2 billion for 39,263 families, followed by Langsa City, worth IDR 374.6 billion to support 31,772 affected families.

Saifullah emphasized that all data on target households (KK) were based on official proposals from local regional governments that had been strictly validated by the PRR Task Force together with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

"Kemensos ensures that social accompanying personnel in the region will continue to conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation after distribution so that the stimulus funds are used productively to restore the economic resilience of the families of disaster victims," said Saifullah, accompanied by Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo.
