President Prabowo: The existence of People's Schools for the poorest and least able citizens

Tabanan - President Prabowo Subianto again reminded about the purpose of establishing people's schools.

People's schools are a manifestation of the state's presence to help the most needy people, especially children from poor families to get access to decent education. This was conveyed by President Prabowo when reviewing the First People's Secondary School (SRMP) 17 Tabanan, Bali, Sunday, June 7.

President Prabowo emphasized that the main objective of the program is to provide better opportunities for groups of people who have been facing various limitations. According to President Prabowo, national development ultimately aims to improve the welfare of all Indonesian people. Therefore, education is one of the important instruments to pave the way to a better life.

On this occasion, President Prabowo also highlighted the high enthusiasm of the public towards the People's School program. Based on the report he received, the number of applicants in SRMP 17 Tabanan has reached around 400 students, while the current school capacity is only around 270 students.

Responding to this condition, President Prabowo asked the central government and local governments to immediately find solutions so that more children can gain access to education through People's Schools. President Prabowo also asked the Cabinet Secretary (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya to coordinate with relevant ministries and institutions to utilize the available state facilities while waiting for the construction of permanent schools.

According to Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, in the future the government targets the construction of one permanent People's School in every district and city on the Island of the Gods.
