JAKARTA - A column of the building collapsed during the demolition of the old DKI Jakarta Environmental Service (LH) building on Jalan Mandala V, Cililitan, East Jakarta.

The collapsed concrete material fell on the operational vehicle of the fire department which was at the location, resulting in one officer having to receive medical treatment.

The collision caused considerable damage to the cabin of the vehicle. A water tank truck parked next to it was also affected by the debris.

The incident occurred during the process of demolishing the old building of the DKI Jakarta LH Office which was no longer in use. At the location, a number of heavy equipment in the form of excavators were used for demolition work.

Several security officers and residents were also seen gathering to watch the handling process. Shortly after the incident, an ambulance arrived at the location to evacuate the victims affected by the ruins.

DKI Jakarta Environmental Service Public Relations Yogi Ikhwan explained that the demolition was carried out as part of work on the old DLH office building. Because it is located in a densely populated residential area, his party coordinated with the Cililitan Village Damkar Task Force to help watering to reduce dust during the work.

"During the demolition process, one of the columns of the old building collapsed and hit the Damkar operational vehicle which was around the activity area," said Yogi in his statement, Sunday, June 7.

When the incident occurred, there were two fire officers inside the vehicle. One of the officers was affected and was immediately evacuated to the hospital.

"In the vehicle there were two Damkar officers. One of the officers was affected by the incident and was immediately evacuated for medical treatment at the Police Hospital," he said.

The DKI LH Office ensures that the victim has received medical treatment and is currently in stable condition. Initial examination results show that there are no life-threatening conditions, although the victim is still undergoing observation.

"Based on the results of the medical team's examination, including CT scans, the officer's condition is currently stable. In accordance with medical procedures, the person concerned is still undergoing observation for 24 hours to ensure that his health condition remains good," said Yogi.

The DKI DLH stated that the coordination of handling was carried out together with the ranks of Damkar and medical personnel since the incident took place. Currently, the condition at the location has been under control and the post-incident handling process is running normally.

"The safety of officers is the top priority in every field activity. We also continue to coordinate with all parties concerned so that the handling process goes well and the condition of the officers can recover immediately," he added.
