JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) has signed a contract worth Rp341.5 billion for the procurement of an automatic fare collection system or automatic fare collection (AFC) in the MRT Jakarta phase 2A north-south project.

The CP207 work package contract was signed with the consortium of Hitachi Rail Hong Kong Limited and Sumitomo Corporation at the MRT Jakarta Headquarters, Wisma Nusantara Building, Central Jakarta.

This work package includes the design, fabrication, delivery, and installation of the AFC system that will support the operation of the Jakarta MRT from HI Roundabout to the City.

MRT Jakarta President Director Tuhiyat said the AFC system is one of the important components in the operation of MRT phase 2A which is currently still in the construction phase.

"This automatic fare collection system is an important part of realizing the operation of phase 2A of the north-south line. This system is the main foundation in providing customer experience and efforts to accelerate the integration of future transportation services," said Tuhiyat in his statement, Sunday, June 7.

According to him, the project is one of the important stages in the development of the Jakarta MRT network which will expand services to the city area.

As of May 25, 2026, the progress of the MRT Jakarta phase 2A north-south cross has reached 60.80 percent or exceeded the target set at 59.70 percent.

MRT Jakarta targets the Bundaran HI-Monas segment to be operational in 2027. Meanwhile, the construction of the continuation line to the City is targeted to be completed in 2029.

Director and CEO of Hitachi Rail Hong Kong Limited Nicolas Rabbat assessed that the project was part of strengthening the urban transportation system in Indonesia.
