JAKARTA - The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) detected nearly 70 violations of Lebanese airspace by Israel, which also launched dozens of air raids in various parts of the country.

"Yesterday UNIFIL detected 69 violations of Lebanese airspace on both sides. The peacekeepers reported about 25 air raids by IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] fighter jets, and two rocket attacks by IDF helicopters," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, quoted by Sputnik, Friday, June 5.

According to him, the next peacekeeping mission recorded about 569 projectiles launched from IDF positions south of the Blue Line and within the UNIFIL operation area.

The mission also recorded 14 launches of projectiles from north to south that were suspected to have come from the area controlled by the Hezbollah group in Lebanon, he said.

In addition, two other positions in the eastern sector of UNIFIL were also hit by the impact of ammunition.

"In Lebanon... attacks on health services continue at an alarming level. Yesterday, an attack in the Southern Governorate hit an ambulance, killing two paramedics and seriously injuring another paramedic," he said.

Earlier this week, the next round of direct talks between Lebanon and Israel at the ambassadorial level was held in Washington.

The Hezbollah group said it was ready to abide by the ceasefire, provided Israeli attacks across Lebanon were halted.

Although the US stated that a ceasefire agreement had been reached, Israel reportedly continued to launch attacks in the Lebanese territory.

Previously on Thursday (4/6), the US State Department informed Israel and Lebanon agreed to implement a ceasefire in recent talks in Washington mediated by the US.

The US State Department also said the ceasefire would only apply if Hezbollah stopped all military action and withdrew all its personnel from the area south of the Litani River.
