JAKARTA - The Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Central Jakarta, is expected to be crowded with more than 80 thousand visitors during the weekend on Saturday-Sunday, June 6-7, 2026. The mass surge was triggered by a number of major agendas held simultaneously, ranging from music concerts, sports tournaments, culinary festivals to e-sport events.
The DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) has also prepared situational traffic engineering and vehicle arrangements around the Senayan area to anticipate congestion.
Based on the estimate of the Dishub, the number of visitors who came to the GBK area reached 37,800 people on Saturday, June 6, and increased to around 43 thousand people on Sunday, June 7.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Budi Awaluddin said officers would be alerted at a number of points to regulate traffic and ensure that people's mobility continued.
"We have prepared personnel to carry out traffic arrangements, parking supervision, and coordination with the police and event organizers. Traffic arrangements will be carried out on a situational basis according to conditions in the field to maintain the smooth flow of vehicles and the safety of road users," said Budi in his statement, Friday, June 5.
A number of activities that took place simultaneously in the GBK area include EXO Planet #6 ExhOrizon in Jakarta at the Indonesia Arena, Raisa's "Love & Let Go" concert at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC), Polytron Indonesia Open 2026 at Istora Senayan, the Nusantara Jamu Festival in GBK City Forest, Hero E-Sport PUBG at Tennis Indoor, to Indofest 2026 at JICC Hall B.
The potential for traffic density is estimated to occur on a number of major roads leading to the Senayan area. Therefore, Dishub has prepared traffic engineering from Blok M, Tanah Abang, Slipi, to Tebet which will be implemented on a situational basis to match conditions in the field.
In addition to regulating vehicle traffic, Dishub also prepared parking lots at 10 points in the GBK area. The total capacity of available parking is 1,957 four-wheeled vehicles and 8,229 two-wheeled vehicles.
"We appeal to visitors to use the official parking bags that have been provided and not to park their vehicles on the road because it can interfere with the smooth flow of traffic and other community activities," he explained.
However, Dishub still asks the public to prioritize the use of public transportation over private vehicles. This is because the GBK area has been connected to various public transportation modes, ranging from Transjakarta to the Jakarta MRT.
The Transjakarta route serving the GBK area includes Corridor 1 City-Block M, 1F Palmerah Station-Senayan Roundabout, 1W Blok M-Ancol, 3F Kalideres-Senayan Bank Jakarta, 6M Manggarai Station-Block M, 6V Ragunan-Senayan Bank Jakarta, 9C Pinang Ranti-Senayan Roundabout, to 10H Tanjung Priok-Senayan Roundabout. In addition, there are routes 1N Tanah Abang-Block M, 1P Senen-Block M, and 6D Tebet Station-Senayan Roundabout.
Meanwhile, MRT users can get off at Istora Mandiri Station which operates from 05.00 to 24.00 WIB.
"Using public transportation is the most effective option to avoid traffic congestion around the activity location. We invite the public to use the Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and Commuter Line services to make travel more comfortable, safe, and efficient," said Budi.
Dishub also asked people who did not have interests to head to the GBK area to avoid the roads around the activity location and adjust the route to reduce congestion during the weekend.
"We invite all people to work together to maintain order and traffic flow during the various activities in the GBK area. With the collaboration of all parties, we are optimistic that all activities can run smoothly without disturbing the mobility of the public in general," concluded Budi.
