JAKARTA - The firmness in maintaining the quality of food and discipline in carrying out procedures is the main reason why President Prabowo Subianto appointed Naniek S Deyang as the new chairman of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that the officials appointed previously had served as Deputy Head of BGN so that they understood the entire work process of the institution.

According to Prasetyo, the results of the government's evaluation showed that the person concerned was known to be very strict in implementing operational standards and quality control of food for beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meal Program.

"He is very strict about discipline in implementing SOPs, organizational management, and maintaining the quality of food served to beneficiaries," said Prasetyo, Thursday, June 4.

The government hopes that the new leadership of BGN together with the two new deputy heads can accelerate the internal reform of the institution.

The official inauguration is scheduled to take place next week. However, administratively and legally, the new leadership of BGN has been valid since the presidential decree was issued.

For the government, the quality of food and the management of the program is now the main focus given that MBG is one of the flagship programs that touches millions of beneficiaries throughout Indonesia.
