North Sumatra Governor Supports National Children's Day 2026 in Samosir, IDAI Provides Free Health Services

MEDAN - The Indonesian Pediatric Doctors Association (IDAI) North Sumatra Branch held an audience with the Governor of North Sumatra at the North Sumatra Governor's Office, Medan. The meeting, which was led directly by the Chairman of IDAI North Sumatra, dr. Rizky Adriansyah, SpA, SubspKardio(K) is aimed at discussing preparations for the 42nd National Children's Summit (HAN) which will be held on Samosir Island on July 24-26, 2026.

On this occasion, IDAI North Sumatra explained the main theme carried this year, namely "Building a Golden Generation from the Shores of Lake Toba". This activity is designed not only as a ceremonial celebration, but also a real action of dedication to the profession of pediatricians through the provision of free health services and education for children in the Lake Toba area.

The Peak of the Event at Waterfront City Pangururan

The chairman of IDAI North Sumatra explained that the peak event will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Waterfront City Pangururan, Samosir Regency. This event is planned to be officially opened by the Governor of North Sumatra and attended by the IDAI Central Board, pediatric specialists from all over Indonesia, local governments, and local communities.

"We target free health services for about 600 children in Samosir Regency. To make this program successful, we involve about 200 pediatric specialists and 70 pediatric cardiologists," said dr. Rizky Adriansyah.

This step is taken as one of the concrete efforts to bring access to specialist and subspecialist health services closer to the community, especially for children who need further medical examination.

Focus on Child Health and Prevention of Stunting

As a form of real contribution, IDAI North Sumatra has prepared a series of community service activities that focus on children's welfare. Some of the main agendas to be implemented include:

Free Health Services: Direct examination by pediatric specialists and subspecialists. Screening of Children's Heart Disease: Early detection of heart abnormalities in children in remote areas. Growth Screening: Periodic monitoring of physical and mental development of children. Education on Stunting Prevention: Intensive counseling for parents to reduce stunting rates in North Sumatra. Healthy Living Promotion: Healthy gymnastics activities, Samosir children's art performances, prize distribution, and children's rights fulfillment campaign.

Health and Tourism Promotion Synergy of Lake Toba

The Governor of North Sumatra welcomed the plan and gave high appreciation to IDAI Sumut. According to the Governor, this initiative which combines scientific missions, health services, and regional tourism promotion is a very smart strategic step.

The implementation of HAN 2026 in the Lake Toba area is expected to strengthen collaboration between health workers, local governments, and the wider community. In addition to improving the quality of children's health, this momentum is also an effective promotional event to introduce the potential of North Sumatra's super priority tourism to participants who come from various parts of the country.

Through the celebration of National Children's Day 2026, IDAI North Sumatra hopes that public awareness of children's health will continue to increase. With increasingly widespread access to health services, a joint commitment to realizing a healthy, smart, and quality generation of Indonesia towards the Golden Indonesia 2045 can be achieved immediately.
