TARAKAN - The efforts of three suspected perpetrators of narcotics trafficking to escape when raided by the police ended in vain. The joint team managed to arrest the three of them in an operation to uncover the case of methamphetamine in Juata Permai Village, North Tarakan District, Tarakan City, North Kalimantan (Kaltara) on Saturday, May 30.

The Tarakan Police Chief, AKBP Erwin S. Manik, said that the disclosure of the case began with community information regarding the alleged activity of narcotics transactions at a house on Jalan Seranai 3, Perum Korpri RT 20, Juata Permai Village.
Following up on the report, a joint team consisting of the Tarakan Police Narcotics Unit, Subdit I Ditresnarkoba Polda Kaltara, BNN Province of Kaltara, BNN Tarakan City, and Tarakan Customs conducted an investigation and monitoring at the location.

"One of the suspected perpetrators allegedly threw methamphetamine into the bushes and drainage channels around the location," he explained.
The officers then conducted a search and managed to find all the evidence that had been thrown away.
Erwin revealed that from the results of the search, the police confiscated 6.70 grams of methamphetamine from RO, 16.02 grams from H, and 1.18 grams from MC. The total evidence seized amounted to 23.90 grams gross.
"In addition to methamphetamine, officers also secured a suction device, digital scales, plastic packaging, scissors, mobile phones, cash suspected to be the proceeds of narcotics transactions, as well as a number of other items related to the activity of distributing methamphetamine," he said.
He added that the results of the initial examination using the kit test showed that all the evidence was positive for methamphetamine.
"The three suspects and the evidence have now been secured at the Tarakan Police to undergo further investigation," he said.
They were charged with Article 114 Paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.
The Police Chief emphasized that the disclosure was proof of the commitment of the police in eradicating the circulation of drugs in the Tarakan area.
